SQR Contributes to Shaping of UK's Digital Identity Ecosystem

SQR’s CEO, Shelley Langan-Newton, joined other leaders across the digital identity landscape last month, to collaborate in a policy development session chaired by the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSIT).
The roundtable discussion, held at Whitehall on Friday 19th May, focused on key topics crucial to the development of the UK’s digital identity ecosystem.
During the session, Shelley shared valuable insights and perspectives on various critical aspects, including inclusion and accessibility to all.
Attendees were focused on ensuring that the digital identity ecosystem becomes accessible to everybody, regardless of their background or circumstances, as well as making sure that digital identities are easy to use and navigate – particularly for individuals with diverse needs or disabilities.
SQR’s Founder, Michael Dodd, stated: “We’re thrilled that SQR is able to play an active role in these important conversations”.
“SQR advocates for user-friendly digital identities that cater to the diverse needs of individuals, including those with disabilities. By prioritising ease of use and navigation, we seek to create an inclusive digital identity landscape.”
Implementing a collaborative approach to reporting and sharing of fraud data was also on the agenda, in an effort to further combat the crippling effects of fraudsters. With a staggering £1.2 billion lost to fraud last year alone, the industry is doubling down on its efforts to eliminate the criminal activity at its source.
The round table discussion centred around the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF), which has been launched to create a gold standard in digital identity certification. The UK Government has deemed certified services to be equal to passports, driver’s licences and bank statements in terms of trust and reliability.

SQR is currently undertaking the DIATF certification process.
